Richard Gasquet claimed his third title of the year with a victory over Mikhail Kukushkin in the Kremlin Cup final on Sunday.
The Frenchman came from a set down to record a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 triumph in the ATP 250 hard-court event, capping an excellent run of form.
Gasquet has reached the semifinals of both the China Open and Thailand Open in the last few weeks, but he went all this way in Moscow, although he had to recover from an early setback.
His unseeded Kazakhstani opponent gained the edge in the opener after securing the crucial break at 4-3, but the number one battled back to level the match after dominating for large parts of the second set, during which he broke twice.
With momentum on his side, Gasquet looked set fair for the title but when he dropped his serve to trail 4-3 in the decider, Kukushin scented blood.
However, Gasquet broke straight back and went on to final three games in a row to seal the result.
The victory means he now passes his compatriot Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the push for the eighth and final position in the Race to London, and he is thrilled with his form.
"It was an incredible week for me and now I have great memories about playing here," he said.
"I really enjoyed my performance in Moscow and I want to come back here next year to defend my title.
"It is one of the most successful seasons in my career but the race for a place in London (for the season-ending ATP World Tour finals) is not over yet and I now need to concentrate on my further playing to get there."
