Skip Bayless probably did not personally praise himself on Facebook

It's always fun to mock Skip Bayless, but isn't it also fun to mock Facebook?

The masses are laughing hard that Bayless, FS1's new hot-take overlord, seemingly praised himself in a comment on one of his Facebook video posts. Here's the poorly written post that came up as being from the verified Skip Bayless account, as noted by Cox Media's Ollie Connolly: "Skip you are the man!!! Love the new show on FS1!!!!"

And here's Connolly's screen capture to prove it:

OK, so here's what we all know:

1. That the Skip Bayless Facebook account commented on its own live video with a cloyingly self-praising message.

But here are some other slices of this story and Facebook's interface that need to be understood:

2. The Skip Bayless official, verified account is actually a brand page, not a user profile.

3. Brand pages routinely have multiple administrators.

4. When an administrator is on his or her brand page, any posts they make will default to being through the brand account unless specified otherwise.

5. Commenting on your own Facebook Live is not an easy task without breaking stride in your broadcast.

6. Skip Bayless is a 65-year-old man.

All of this means what we're likely looking at here is a producer for Bayless' show or social media accounts almost certainly being the culprit. Facebook offers so many options that it can be confusing in a pinch. Sporting News producers have made similar mistakes during Facebook Live sessions, where people wanted to pitch questions from their own accounts but instead commented as the brand.

What we didn't do was offer up weirdly quasi-genuine praise. Clearly the producer (or Skip, if it really was him) wanted to get the comments section off to a positive start. Knowing Bayless' opinions on so many issues, that makes sense.

It's just a little bizarre, too.
