Touching Nike ad shows Rory McIlroy chasing his hero Tiger Woods image

Rory McIlroy has always been chasing Tiger Woods. In Nike's new ad, we get to see that transformation.

McIlroy, 25, grew up watching Woods as a boy and at one point in time, he even wrote Woods to tell him about his intentions.

From the New York Times:

No one can recall the note’s precise wording, but its general thrust, as Brian McIlroy, Rory’s uncle and godfather, paraphrased in an email, put Woods on notice: “I’m coming to get you. This is the beginning. Watch this space.”

Those are strong words from a 9-year-old.

Now, McIlroy is ranked as the No. 1 golfer on the planet as Woods drops out of the Top 100.

The ad is a reminder of the constant tide of greatness, often fueled by one another, from generation to generation.

Where some ads try to pull the heartstrings with a fist of ham, this Nike spot delivers.
