Petra Kvitova will be released from the hospital Friday after surgery on a severely wounded left hand sustained in a knife attack, her representative confirmed.
The two-time Wimbledon champion was left "shaken, but fortunate to be alive" after she was attacked Tuesday by an intruder in her apartment in the Czech Republic.
Kvitova, 26, suffered damage to tendons and nerves in her playing hand and underwent surgery in an attempt to repair the harm, with the procedure said to have gone "very well."
