Pau Gasol said last month he may sit out of the 2016 Olympics in Rio in fear of contracting the highly publicized Zika virus. Now, instead of passing up what could be his last shot at the competition with Spain, Gasol is instead mulling the option of freezing his sperm before making the trip.

“Freezing sperm is one of the measures I have to consider,” Gasol said (via The Associated Press).
Zika, a mosquito-born virus that can be sexually transmitted, has been linked to birth defects in children and neurological problems in adults.
The increasing number of cases in Brazil has been a hot topic among athletes deciding whether to compete. Just last week, British long jumper Greg Rutherford froze a sample of his sperm.

Gasol, 35, does not have any children.
