Miesha Tate plans to ‘ruin’ Rousey-Holm rematch image

When Ronda Rousey steps back into the ring, she wants to be staring at Holly Holm — the fighter that handed her a brutal loss at UFC 193 in November.

But if it’s up to Holm’s next opponent, Miesha Tate, it will be quite some time before Rousey gets that fight.

Holm will defend her bantamweight title Saturday night against Tate, and since the winner of that fight is expected to meet Rousey later this year, Rousey has openly said she hopes Holm discards Tate to set up a rematch, saying “I don’t want anyone else to take the honor of beating (Holm) but myself.”

“If that’s what she wants, sorry, but I’m going to ruin that for her,” Tate told USA Today. “If they want to make that rematch happen, that’s how I see it going down because on Saturday I’m going to go in there, and I’m confident that I’m going to win the belt.

“So they’re definitely going to have to adjust the game plan. I would like to see Holly and Ronda fight again, but it just may not be for the belt.”

Rousey really has nothing to prove against Tate, whom she’s already beaten twice. But her loss to Holm, the only one of her professional career, had a serious impact, pushing her to the point of suicidal thoughts.

Though Rousey vs. Tate for a third time would still be quite the draw, Tate may be the only person that doesn’t want to see a Rousey-Holm rematch with the belt on the line.
