Martina Hingis reaches Wimbledon women's, mixed doubles finals image

Martina Hingis reached her first Wimbledon final in 17 years on Friday, combining with Sania Mirza to make it all the way to the showpiece event in women's doubles.

The top-seeded pairing defeated Americans Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears 6-1, 6-2 on Friday at the All England Club.

Hingis also will plan for Wimbledon's mixed doubles title. She and partner Leander Paes of India, seeded seventh, pulled a major upset in Friday's semifinals by defeated the No. 1 seeds — American duo Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Mike Bryan 6-3, 6-4.

They will now face Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina for the title.

Hingis, 34, was the "it" girl of tennis in the late 1990s. She was part of women's doubles winners in 1996 and 1998. And in 1997, she defeated Jana Novotna in three sets for one of her five Grand Slam singles victories.
