Mark Wahlberg is famous in the golf community for his friendships with PGA Tour stars and for having one of the best backyard golf holes ever created.

Now, the actor and producer has taken his mark on the game to the next level by implementing a new definition to the term "speed golf". Apparently, Wahlberg can play 18 holes in a little over an hour.

“I would tee off at 6 in the morning and run the golf course,” Wahlberg said via GolfDigest.com. “We’d hit a drive and then just sprint to the ball and then the [caddies] would come with the carts. We’d grab a club, hit again and then sprint again.

“We’d play all 18 in about an hour fifteen, maybe 1:20. Depended on the putting.”

Golf took a bit of hit this year around the country, with the number of young players dropping from recent estimations. Speed of play is considered one of the reasons for that decline. Trying to squeeze a round in can take four to five hours at best most of the time.

Certainly Wahlberg's cardio method of playing won't catch on, but picking up the tempo in general could help spur a faster pace of play for the next generation of golfers.
