Kentucky Derby 2016: Time, TV channel, online streaming image

We're almost there. The 142nd Kentucky Derby will be run Saturday evening at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., with post time set for 6:34 p.m. ET. It will be broadcast on TV live on NBC, with undercard coverage earlier in the day on NBC Sports Network.

Last year, American Pharoah captured the Kentucky Derby en route to the first Triple Crown since 1978. Nyquist, trained by Doug O'Neil, who won the Derby and Preakness with I'll Have Another in 2012, is the favorite at 3-to-1 and hopes to follow in the same path. He enters the Kentucky Derby with seven wins in as many tries, including victories in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Florida Derby. He's run twice in 2016.

Post positions were drawn at random on Wednesday, with 20 horses entered into the field. Nyquist drew gate No. 13, which O'Neill was fine with. Brody's Cause probably got the worst draw at No. 19, with Danzing Candy, expected to take the lead from the gate with his speed, at No. 20.

The Kentucky Derby can often be unpredictable because of the size of the field, though the two pre-race favorites — California Chrome in 2014 and American Pharoah in 2015 — have both won at 5-to-2 odds. In 2013, Orb won at 5-to-1, and prior to that, I'll Have Another and Animal Kingdom captured the Kentucky Derby at 15-to-1 and 20-to-1, respectively.

Here's all the information you need to watch and enjoy the Kentucky Derby on TV.
