EA Sports UFC released last June on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and one area of the game that wasn't considered a strength at launch was the roster of fighters.
Bantamweight Champion T.J. Dillashaw was not included on the initial roster. Some like Josh Barnett, Stipe Miocic, Anthony Johnson, Tim Kennedy, Tyron Woodley, Raphael Assuncao and Ali Bagautinov were ranked near the top of their respective divisions at the time but were absent from the product.
However, by the end of the year, 18 fighters had been added to the roster over the course of six patches.
A number of relevant competitors remain absent, and a seventh update arrived Wednesday that delivers four more fighters. Three of the new additions will be in action soon.
Anthony "Rumble" Johnson: Currently ranked as the No. 3 light heavyweight and will face No. 1 Alexander Gustafsson at UFC on Fox 14 this Saturday. The overall rating given to Johnson in EA Sports UFC is 92.
Holly Holm: Currently ranked as the No. 14 women's bantamweight and will face No. 12 Raquel Pennington at UFC 184 next month. She becomes the eighth woman on the game's roster. Overall rating is 90.
Rafael dos Anjos: Currently ranked as the No. 1 lightweight and will go for the belt against champion Anthony Pettis at UFC 185 in March. Overall rating is 92.
Eddie Alvarez: Currently ranked as the No. 10 lightweight and does not have an upcoming fight scheduled. Overall rating is 92.
As was the case with all prior updates, the new fighters are being offered for free.
EA Sports UFC is available to play for free to subscribers of the EA Access service on Xbox One. The game has also been offered for purchase on both Xbox One and PS4 for as little as $14 over the past few months in various holiday deals.
With a sequel not expected out until 2016, the relevance of the title, and its value particularly at discount prices, will extend well beyond the typical period for annually released sports games.
