Proposals to include an additional three races in the 2014 Formula One season have been scrapped by the FIA.

The world governing body initially included 22 races on the calendar for next year, but that has been reduced back to 19 after events in New Jersey, Mexico and South Korea failed to make the final cut.

There will be two races in North America: one in Quebec, the other in Texas.

Sebastian Vettel will begin his attempt to win a fifth consecutive title in Australia on March 16, with the season ending in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 23 rather than Brazil as it did this year.

F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone expects the inaugural New Jersey Grand Prix to take place in 2015.

"There is great demand for a race in New Jersey and I have no doubt we'll be racing at Port Imperial in 2015," he said in a joint statement with race organisers.

"New races can take many years to get started, but there is significant momentum and we are close to realizing a New York City F1 race."

The first Russian Grand Prix will take place at the Olympic Park in Sochi on Oct. 12.

A decision to skip the India Grand Prix next year had already been made, but the Austrian Grand Prix is back on the calendar and will be held at the refurbished Red Bull Ring — formerly the A1-Ring — on June 22.
