Despite the rehab stint, don't count Desormeaux out for the Belmont Stakes on June 11.

The Hall of Fame jockey, 46, will still participate in the race as he continues his treatment, the Associated Press reported.

"It was time to take a sober look at my life and take this step," Desormeaux said in a statement.

Desormeaux is expected to arrive at Belmont Park in New York on Thursday to prepare Exaggerator for Saturday's race. He is currently staying at the Cirque Lodge in Sundance, Utah, where many celebrities are known to seek drug and alcohol treatment.

Desormeaux has a history of alcohol abuse. In 2015, he was fined $2,500 for appearing drunk at a racing program in Del Mar. He has also been subjected to breathalyzers by California Horse Racing Board, which he failed in 2010 and 2012.

Desormeaux, who also rode Exaggerator to a second-place finish at the Kentucky Derby, last rode on May 30 at Northern California's Golden Gate Fields in the All American Stakes.
