Bettors in Las Vegas are demonstrating a remarkable lack of confidence in the Cowboys ahead of the 2014 NFL season. The point spread has moved against Dallas in all 11 of the team’s games available for early wagering at the LVH SuperBook.
The starkest of these line moves are for the Cowboys’ two games against the Eagles, with the number moving 2.5 points toward Philadelphia in both cases. Philly, in fact, is now a 2.5-point favorite at Dallas on Thanksgiving Day (the game opened a pick ‘em back on May 4).
We’ve also seen 1.5-point moves toward the Saints, Seahawks and Bears for their respective games vs. the Cowboys.
Early movement in the win-total pool also reflects waning faith in America’s team.
Dallas has gone 8-8 in each of the last three seasons, so it probably didn’t take too long for the LVH oddsmakers to decide 8 was the right number at which to open Dallas’ 2014 season-win total. The UNDER opened as the heavy -175 favorite, a price bettors were willing to lay, pushing the odds to UNDER -185.
Additionally, the Cowboys’ odds to win the Super Bowl sit at a long 50-to-1 after opening 40-to-1.
Here are the current lines for the 11 Dallas games offered at the SuperBook, with opening numbers in parentheses. All games are scheduled for Sundays, unless otherwise indicated.
