Victoria Azarenka is looking forward to renewing her rivalry with Sloane Stephens in the fourth round of the Australian Open.

The defending champion needed just an hour to record a straight-sets win over Yvonne Meusburger on Saturday, meaning she will meet Stephens on Monday in a repeat of their semifinal last year.

Stephens is looking forward to the match, insisting she would not let the memory of defeat in 2013 affect her.

"Last year has nothing to do with this year," Stephens said after her 7-5, 6-4 win over Ukraine's Elina Svitolina.

"It's a new match. It will be Monday, hopefully on the big court. It will be exciting.

"I know what I have to do. I have to play my game and focus on myself and focus on what I do best."

Azarenka knows she faces a tough task against the 13th seed, having been impressed with the way Stephens has developed in the past 12 months.

"I have great memories of last year," she said. "Sloane is a great player, a very tough competitor.

"She has a great record here. I feel like she's improved so much. So I'm excited about the match. It's going to be tough and every round is more challenging.

"She's proved that she can handle big stages. She can play against top players, so it's always tough when a player like that knows how to handle themselves."
