2014 Sochi Olympics: Construction incomplete; security near crisis level image

Brazil, scene of turmoil ahead of this summer's World Cup, might be leaps and bounds ahead of Sochi, where the 2014 Winter Olympics begin in two weeks.

Images from the Russian resort city show there's plenty left to do ahead of the Games. Russia is pumping $50 billion -- billion, with a B, and dollars, not rubles, into preparation for the world's biggest winter sports event.

Unfinished projects add to the frustration and anxiety ahead of Feb. 6's first events and the following day's opening ceremonies.

While venues might be complete, and several of those are in the mountains beyond the urban core, Sochi appears to be part construction site, part junk yard.

Check these images: It's amazing how much remains to be done.
