The near-two-decade reality series, ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ returns this summer with two of the best flyweights in the sport. Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko will look to settle the score as the two coaches who will be responsible for mentoring some of the most highly-touted men’s featherweight and middleweight prospects in the sport.
As for the coaches, a third fight is arguably destined to happen given that the outcome of their second fight, an evenly-matched five-round affair which stayed mostly on the feet, was ruled a draw, leaving the series incomplete and in favor of Grasso.
Grasso snatched the belt from Shevchenko in March 2023 by rear-naked-choke, pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the year and beginning a new divisional era in the process.
With both fights in the rear-view mirror, the focus now shifts to the seasonal format, which sees 16 fighters compete for the opportunity to earn a six-figure contract in the season finale between two divisions. One will be coached by Grasso, while the other will see Shevchenko do the honors.
