UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland have been at a war of words for a while. They will look to settle it all in the ring at UFC 293, which takes place at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on September 9. The event will air on ESPN+ in the U.S.

A two-time middleweight champion, Adesanya is 2-1 in his three fights, while Strickland is 2-2 in his last four. A common theme they have is Alex Pereira, who beat both men via knockout. Pereira has a history with Adesanya, dating back to their kickboxing days.

Pereira is therefore more qualified than anyone to assess the Adesanya-Strickland fight.

"Adesanya is definitely a strong fighter, very hard fight for Strickland," Pereira told The Schmo via MMA News. "But Strickland is at the top right now, and out of the top guys, Strickland has the best chance to beat Adesanya.”

Strickland has 11 wins via knockout and Adesanya has 16. The former is a ground fighter, while Adesanya is known as a chameleon, adapting to anything. As the -430 underdog (per Caesars), can Strickland beat the odds and become champion?
