Two hard-hitting warriors will be rewarded for their fighting style inside the octagon. Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje compete in a rematch for the BMF Title at UFC 291, which takes place at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 29. The event will air on ESPN+ PPV in the U.S.

The last time the two fought was in 2018, with Poirier winning via TKO and has gone 6-2 since then. The Diamond” is a former UFC lightweight title contender and is coming off a submission win over Michael Chandler.

Poirier was able to reflect on the outcome of the first fight and how much the two have grown since then. 

"Like [Gaethje] said, this is a completely different fight [compared to the first]. It's been five years, we've both had our ups and downs, we've both learned a lot, put a lot of camps in, had great teams,” Poirier said on DC & RC via Sports Illustrated. "This is a completely different fight.

"I watched the previous fight with my team when I got in Florida... I'm not going to watch it again, you know? I'm not going to watch it again, there's no reason to.

Gaethje has also gone 6-2 since fight one and is also coming off a win, beating Rafael Riziev in March 2023. A multi-time Fight of the Night bonus winner, “The Highlight” is ready to avenge this loss and gain some momentum at lightweight.

In the U.S., UFC 291 starts with the early prelims at 6 p.m. ET. The prelims start at 8 p.m. ET while the main card is at 10 p.m. ET. Poirier and Gaethje should make their way to the octagon around 12:15 a.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.
