Ngannou has won five fights in a row via knockout, recently beating Stipe Miocic to win the UFC heavyweight title. In the middle of a battle with UFC management and his former coach, Ngannou's fight contract is up after this event. A lot is on the line for him. Gane won three in a row in 2021, including a win over Derrick Lewis to win the interim title. He is looking to start 2022 by becoming undisputed champion over his former sparring partner.
Moreno and Figueiredo fought to a draw at UFC 256 in December 2020 following multiple groin strikes by Figueiredo. Moreno would win the second fight at UFC 263 in June via submission, winning the title in the process.
