Ronda Rousey hints at UFC comeback in 'perfect' new commercial image

Ronda Rousey has always forged her own path.

She hasn’t fought since her loss to Holly Holm in UFC 193 (the lone loss in her 12-1 career) and her return date is not yet set. Now, though, she’s back in the public eye in spectacular fashion in an inspiring Reebok commercial (above).

In the ad, Rousey embraces not being perfect.

Why?

“Perfect never gets truly tested.

Perfect never gets to silence its critics.

Perfect never gets a shot at redemption.

So yeah, I’m fine not being perfect.”

Her shot at redemption in the UFC has been on hold. She candidly spoke of her emotional reaction to the loss with Ellen Degeneres in February, admitting she had suicidal thoughts. She then gave a personal account of how she was "still grieving" the loss to Holm in an April video appearance as part of Time's "100 Most Influential People." Then UFC President Dana White said in early June that Rousey had undergone minor knee surgery and could not return until December.

After UFC 200, he said that Rousey would get first shot at new champion Amanda Nunes, if she wants it.

For now, though, she is gaining headlines in a new format.

And her message in the ad? Perfect.
