Former champion and MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov reacted to Conor McGregor's devastating loss at UFC 264 by claiming that "good always defeats evil."

After a brutal first round for both McGregor and Dustin Poirier, the Irishman snapped his tibia with just seconds left on the clock.

It led to a doctor's stoppage and TKO victory for the American in the trilogy fight, backing up his impressive performance in January against McGregor.

The 32-year-old former double champ has a checkered history with both men, and he let his emotions get the better of him in a postfight interview with Joe Rogan.

McGregor threw barbs at Poirier's wife while he lay on the ground and claimed the rivalry between the pair wasn't over.

Over on social media, Nurmagomedov, who retired from the sport last year, had his say, congratulating the victor and taking a shot at McGregor in the process.

"Good always defeats evil," he said.

"Very happy for Dustin Poirier I hope you will get the belt end of the year."

Poirier is the likely next challenger for lightweight champion Charles Oliveira following the big win over McGregor.
