An inaugural strawweight women's kickboxing title fight between Jackie Buntan and Anissa Meksen in ONE Championship's newest division will go down at ONE 169 in Lumpinee Stadium, per the promotion.
On November 8th in Bangkok, Thailand, women's kickboxing will have two divisions in ONE, joining women's mixed martial arts and Muay Thai which have both atom and strawweight.
By coincidence, America's Jackie Buntan also fought for the inaugural strawweight women's Muay Thai belt, losing a decision to Swede Smilla Sundell back in 2022. Since then, she has won three straight fights in Muay Thai. This will be her first kickboxing bout ever, having competed in Muay Thai as an amateur and a professional.
Standing opposite her will be the legend Anissa Meksen, who has trained in kickboxing her entire life. One of the great women fighters in GLORY kickboxing history, the French-Algerian champion has 105 wins in her professional combat career.
Meksen was 3-0 in ONE Championship before her reccent fight with Thai striking phenom Phetjeeja for the ONE atomweight kickboxing belt, a fight in which Anissa lost for just the third time since 2015. Now, the fighter who spent much of her career as a champion at 121-lbs will move back up from 115, this time to 125-lbs (ONE weight classes are 10 lbs higher than normal due to their hydration rules).
Buntan and Meksen will join a stacked card at ONE 169 which includes three other title fights, headlined by Anatoly Malykhin vs Reug Reug, and followed by Rodtang vs Jacob Smith, and Christian Lee vs Alibeg Rasulov in a typical ONE Championship mix of different combat sports on the same event.
