Conor McGregor is back. Or is he?

The retired then unretired and now apparently very much active McGregor, 27, tweeted Monday, "I am BACK on UFC 200!"

However, hours after McGregor's tweet, UFC president Dana White told the Los Angeles Times there was no deal in place for McGregor's return, going so far as to call the tweet "not true."

“We haven’t talked (to) Conor or his manager since the press conference,” White said, referring to Friday's official UFC 200 news conference in Las Vegas in which White repeatedly said McGregor wouldn't appear on the card. “I don’t know why he would tweet that.”

UFC last week pulled McGregor (19-3) from its July 9 showcase in Las Vegas for refusing to fly to Nevada to promote the event in which he's scheduled to face Nate Diaz.

Days later, White offered to keep Diaz (19-10) on the card against a different opponent, but Diaz said he was only interested in fighting McGregor at UFC 200.  McGregor lost in an upset to Diaz at UFC 196 earlier this year.

On Saturday, shortly after former champion Jon Jones (22-1) defeated Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197 for the interim light heavyweight title, White told ESPN.com that it was "possible" Jones could headline UFC 200 against Daniel Cormier, who has been out with a leg injury.
