One of the most unique individuals in MMA faces a former UFC champion looking to succeed in the next chapter of his career. Mike Perry fights Luke Rockhold at Bare Knuckle FC 41 on April 29.
The event is in the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, and airs on FITE.
Perry turned pro in 2014 and joined the UFC in 2016. He is 7-8 with the promotion, his last bout in 2021. "Platinum," who got into a famous fight at a restaurant in Texas where he punched an elderly man, joined BKFC in 2021. He is 2-0 with the promotion, beating Julian Lane in February 2022 and Michael "Venom" Page of Bellator fame in August.
“I’ve never seen him as a brawler-puncher,” Perry said at a pre-fight press conference via MMA Fighting. “He’s a he’s a great grappler. He’s strong when it comes to grappling and putting his hips on people. I mean, props to him because he knows he’s great grappler and he’s over here trying to punch now, but it’s going to be a rude awakening. It is. You’ve been at this game a long time, man. It’s someone else’s turn. I have the next seven years.”
A multi-time medalist in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Rockhold turned pro in MMA in 2007. The former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Rockhold joined the UFC in 2013 and went 6-5 with the promotion. Beating Chris Weidman for the UFC middleweight title in 2015, he went 1-4 since and was on a three-fight losing streak before leaving the UFC. The 38-year-old last fought in August 2022.

In March 2023, Rockhold signed with BKFC and will be making his debut against Perry.
“Mike thinks a certain thing — he’s going to find out another,” said Rockhold. “A lot of people think one thing about me and they always find out another. He’ll come to find out… Mike, I know who you are. I’ve seen who you are and everyone knows what you bring to the table. You’ve been doing your thing for a while. You’ve been boxing. Yeah, it’s apparent you can box. You’re a little f------ dog and you like to come forward. No one’s ever seen me box. No one’s ever seen me isolated in this spectrum and no one’s ever seen me move like this. You don’t know what to expect. I know what to expect.”
