The veteran Italian midfielder played a big role in San Jose's opener on Saturday. His poor pass put goalkeeper Sean Johnson in trouble, and he then opted against tracking Marco Urena as the Costa Rica international went in alone on goal and scored the opener.

The 37-year-old designated player has started all four of NYCFC's MLS matches in 2017.
