BMO Field may be hosting the MLS Cup final for the second time, but we're guaranteed to end up with a first-time champion.
MLS Cup newcomers Toronto FC and the Seattle Sounders will meet in the league's showcase event Dec. 10, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET. The match will be televised on Fox and UniMas in the United States and TSN and RDS in Canada, marking the first time the MLS Cup will be played on a Saturday night on network television.
You also can follow along with Goal's LIVE commentary, which will commence about 30 minutes before kickoff.
The match will be played in Toronto for the first time since 2010 after TFC (14-9-11) earned home field thanks to its five-point edge over the Sounders (14-14-6) in the regular season standings.
Seeded third in the Eastern Conference, Toronto recorded a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Union in the knockout round before rolling to a 7-0 aggregate victory over New York City FC in the conference semifinals. TFC then booked its ticket to the MLS Cup on Wednesday, scoring twice in extra time to earn a 7-5 aggregate win over the rival Montreal Impact in an epic Eastern Conference final.
Seattle, meanwhile, earned the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference before a last-gasp 1-0 victory against Sporting Kansas City in the knockout round. The Sounders then bounced Supporters' Shield winner FC Dallas, enjoying a 4-2 aggregate triumph. And Brian Schmetzer's side advanced to the MLS Cup on Sunday by sealing a 3-1 aggregate win over the Colorado Rapids.
