Jesse Marsch will stay on as head coach of the New York Red Bulls for the 2017 campaign, the club announced Thursday.

Multiple outlets, including Goal, reported Wednesday that Marsch was in talks to take over as manager of Red Bull Salzburg. Amid the reports, Marsch was absent from the Red Bulls' contingent at the MLS combine in Southern California.

"Jesse Marsch will be traveling to Los Angeles today to join the staff and prepare for MLS SuperDraft," the Red Bulls statement said. "Jesse will remain at the helm in 2017 to lead the charge towards the ultimate goal of bringing MLS Cup to Red Bull Arena."

The 43-year-old coach is entering his third season in charge of the Red Bulls, having led the club to the Supporters' Shield in 2015 and a first-place finish in the Eastern Conference last season.
