Real Salt Lake has signed free agent defender David Horst, the club announced Thursday.
Entering his 10th MLS season, the veteran was drafted by RSL in 2008 but made just three appearances before joining the Portland Timbers in the November 2010 expansion draft. Following three years in Portland, Horst joined the Houston Dynamo ahead of the 2014 campaign and made 89 appearances over the past three MLS seasons.

"David is another veteran player that adds a different dynamic to our group of center backs," RSL general Craig Waibel said in a news release. "With his addition, we are much more comfortable with our depth now that we have four center backs that are capable of starting, with each pairing offering something different."
Horst, 31, joins holdovers Justen Glad, Aaron Maund and Chris Schuler in RSL's center back corps.
