Jason Kreis is looking for work again after Orlando City parted ways with its manager on Friday.

Despite opening the 2018 MLS season with six wins in nine matches, the Lions have fallen apart in recent weeks, and the club took the decision to go in another direction on the back of six straight losses in league play.

Kreis took the helm for Orlando in July of 2016, the club's second season in the league, and compiled a 21-29-14 record, but it was the recent form that proved to be his doom.

Following a 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake in early may, the Orlando dropped matches to Atlanta United, Toronto FC, and the Chicago Fire all by 2-1 scorelines, but the bottom fell out for the club in the 45-year-old's final three games in charge. A 3-0 dismantling by New York City FC was followed by a 5-2 smashing by the Vancouver Whitecaps and another 3-0 loss to the Montreal Impact.

"This is a very difficult decision to take, but sometimes in sports we must make tough decisions with the best future of the organization in mind,” Orlando City SC CEO Alex Leitao said in a club release. “I have enormous respect for Jason and the work his team did in Orlando. He arrived in a difficult moment and is leaving with a legacy of respect and professionalism. Now is the time to look forward, keep our heads high and continue pushing toward the many goals we set this season."

Orlando currently sits in the sixth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, having picked up 19 points from 15 matches.

But the club has now shipped the joint-most goals in the league and, should results not change, is in serious jeopardy of falling out of those coveted playoff places.

Assistant coach Bobby Murphy will take the lead as the club searches for a new full-time manager.
