Minnesota United has landed MLS veterans Marc Burch and Sam Cronin through a series of moves on Friday.

Burch and Cronin both join the club from the Colorado Rapids, with the former picked up through a direct trade with the Rapids, while the latter was picked up off waivers after a trade allowed MNUFC to acquire the top spot in the waiver order from the Chicago Fire.

MLS Talking Points: TFC's homecoming

Minnesota gave up its natural third-round selection in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft for the top spot in the waiver order and traded Mohammed Saeid, Josh Gatt and an international roster spot to the Rapids for Burch.

“With this move we have added strength, leadership and MLS experience to our roster.” said MNUFC Sporting Director Manny Lagos in a team release. “Sam Cronin and Marc Burch were leaders on and off the field in Colorado and we are confident they will bring these important qualities to our club.”

The moves should help Minnesota solidify a unit that has picked up just one point in four MLS games while conceding 18 goals.

That one point, coincidentally, came in a 2-2 draw with Colorado, which remains the only side to not have scored at least five goals against the expansion club.
