Hurricane Harvey has caused the Houston Dynamo's match with Sporting Kansas City to be postponed.
The MLS game had been scheduled for Saturday night at BBVA Compass Stadium, but with the Houston area expected to be heavily impacted by the storm this weekend, the match will now be played on Oct. 11, during a recognized FIFA international date.
The NWSL match between the Houston Dash and North Carolina Courage was also postponed because of the storm.
"Under the circumstances, the clear and obvious decision is to reschedule these matches. The most important thing is the safety of our community,” said Dynamo and Dash president Chris Canetti said in a club statement.
“I appreciate the support of MLS, NWSL, Sporting Kansas City and the North Carolina Courage in working through this difficult situation with us. On behalf of the Dynamo, Dash and BBVA Compass Stadium, we wish for everyone's utmost safety and security throughout the storm."
Houston and Sporting Kansas City sit third and fourth respectively in the Western Conference standings.
