MLB rumors: Dodgers reportedly willing to pay Zack Greinke $210M over six years image

The Dodgers, who have watched two of the top pitchers on the free-agent market already get swept up, are now reportedly ready to make a move of their own. According to the New York Daily News, the Dodgers are prepared to give Zack Greinke $210 million over six years, which would be an astonishing $35 million per year.

The Red Sox just signed David Price to a seven-year, $217 million deal Tuesday, and the Tigers signed Jordan Zimmermann to a five-year, $110 million deal on Monday. The moves seem to have prompted Los Angeles into action as they look to tie down last season's NL Cy Young runner-up.

It's worth mentioning the proposed deal could also be a smokescreen set out by the Dodgers hoping to raise the price for the Giants. San Francisco has shown increased interest in Greinke but would likely be driven out of the race if Los Angeles does, in fact, offer that kind of money.

Greinke finished 19-3 last season with a 1.66 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 200 strikeouts.
