The New York Yankees are seemingly out of the race for Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet.
Even though the Yankees had some interest in acquiring the 25-year-old budding star, it seems there's a disconnect between what they want to give up and what the White Sox want.
According to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, the Yankees were told several days ago they "don't match up" for the All-Star pitcher.
MORE MLB DEADLINE:
Live updates | Live grades | 15 players most likely to be traded
This isn't a total surprise, especially considering the potential contract extension twist that comes with trading for Crochet.
Unless the Yankees were going to give up a massive package that included Spencer Jones and other top prospects, it seemed to be a longshot for the Yankees to pull off.
It will be interesting to see what happens at the deadline. If a team acquires Crochet, they are getting one of the most electric pitchers in baseball.
However, there are some inning limit concerns and overall durability questions for Crochet.
Either way, it doesn't seem like the Yankees will be pulling off a deal for the electric lefty.
