New York Yankees pitching prospect Alexander Figueredo was shot and killed last month in his native Venezuela, the local publication Notitarde reported.
Figueredo, 20, was at a party in Guacara on Nov. 27 when he was shot multiple times. He later died from his wounds.
Figueredo missed the 2016 season because he was on the suspended/restricted list, according to the New York Post. He spent 2015 on the Yankees' Dominican Summer League team, going 5-0 with a 1.89 ERA, 52 strikeouts and 22 walks in 12 games.
