Things didn't go Mark Teixeira's way Monday night.

First, the Yankees first baseman was robbed of a home run by the Rangers' Leonys Martin in the second inning of New York's 6-2 victory.

But what really got on Teixeira's nerves was a play in the eighth inning. The Yankees' Chase Headley hit a single to center field with Teixeira on second base. When Teixeira rounded third, his third base coach, Joe Espada, told him, "Easy, easy."

Teixeira didn't go head home at full speed and ended up getting thrown out at the plate by none other than Martin.

“That can’t happen," Teixeira told the New York Post. "I can get hurt not expecting a play at the plate. That’s a big run. There are a lot of reasons that can’t happen. I love Joe Espada, he apologized and it’s over, but it was a big mistake."

The third base coach took full responsibility.

“It was my call. I told him to take it easy. I wasn’t expecting the throw,’’ Espada said. “It was my fault. I try to take care of their legs. There was two outs, and he got a good jump. I thought he would score easily."

After being thrown out Teixeira was seen yelling at Espada. He then went back to the dugout and took out his frustrations on a trash can.
