Joe Harvey made his MLB debut Wednesday night for the Yankees, and thankfully the YES Network was there to interview his dad.
Reporter Meredith Marakovits sat in the stands with Harvey's mom, dad and fiancée to get a sense of what they were going through as Harvey pitched. She asked a simple question to Harvey's father: "Can you just take me through what it's like to watch your son in his major league debut?"
That's when papa Harvey stole the show.

First of all, major props to Marakovits, who managed to not burst out laughing while Harvey stumbled through all of his responses. Second, this thing went off the rails immediately. At no point did the dad manage a single coherent sentence. He was basically a living embodiment of Michael Scott's famous sentence quote: "Sometimes I'll start a sentence, and I don't even know where it's going. I just hope I find it along the way."
His response opens up like this:
"It's just really the ultimate of the baseball world as far as we're concerned. I said to my wife this morning, this kid was 7 years old. I've seen him pitch. He's got a little something on his fastball. And through the years, but, through Little League and just ... baseball. It's just overwhelming experience for us."
He started to make a little more sense after that, saying how the Yankees have stuck with him since drafting him in 2014. But he instantly became a star for Yankees fans watching the game.

As for Harvey the pitcher, he had a pretty solid debut. He faced six batters and struck out three while allowing just one hit, one walk and no runs. Maybe if Harvey continues to pitch like this we can get more live interviews with his dad.
