It has been well-documented that New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton isn't for his swiftness on the base paths.
His ludicrous lack of speed was once again on full display Monday night as the Yankees began a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.
After Stanton drew a walk against Orioles starter Grayson Rodriguez in the top of the sixth inning, catcher Austin Wells hit a flare that would have been a base hit in any other circumstance.
However, Stanton had to freeze and take a step back toward first base in order to read the hit, making sure it got over the second baseman's glove and into the outfield.

It did just that. But with even with Stanton's graceful strides, right fielder Anthony Santander came up firing from right field, getting the force out at second base as the Yankees DH lumbered into his slide.
This took what should have been a hit for Wells and turned into a fielder's choice while giving the Orioles an out.

To be fair to Stanton, he did what he was supposed to do. He couldn't take off right away in case the infielder caught it, which would have been an instant double play.
It's just incredible that someone built as though he was carved out of marble has no second gear whatsoever.
