For the Houston Astros, the 2019 World Series hangs on one more game.

On Sunday, Houston bombed its way to a 3-2 Fall Classic lead on the strength of a trifecta of two-run home runs, launched by Carlos Correa, George Springer and Yordan Álvarez.

Washington was dealt a brutal, unfortunate blow before Game 5 even started, when Max Scherzer was shut down with spasms in his nick and trap muscle. Prior to Game 5, the Nationals ace admitted to not being able to move his arm — pretty serious stuff — but could make a Game 7 start should the issues clear up.

Washington, though, gets to lean on another No. 1 starter as Stephen Strasburg toes the rubber, opposing Justin Verlander, in a Game 2 rematch. Strasburg has done it all this postseason, allowing six runs in 28 innings pitched vs. Milwaukee, the Dodgers, the Cardinals and Houston. The Astros had little effect on Strasburg in Game 2, scratching across two runs in seven innings of work.

This postseason, Verlander has looked bend-not-break until he was broken by Washington in Game 2. The Nats scratched across four runs on three walks, a home run and seven hits in six innings of Verlander work. Houston should hope that this isn't pushed to a Game 7, where anything goes.
