The Braves and Astros took turns demonstrating the power of their lineups in Games 1 and 2. So it only seemed fitting that the script should flip in Game 3.
The Braves took the first game of the World Series 7-2 before losing to Houston 7-1 in Game 2. But on Friday, a stellar outing from Ian Anderson and a shutdown bullpen effort kept Houston scoreless, while it took Atlanta just a pair of runs to win Game 3 2-0 in front of its home crowd and take a 2-1 series advantage.
The series now turns to Game 4, and if the probable starters are any indication, this game could be a wild card.
MORE: Why did the Braves pull Ian Anderson?
Because of Charlie Morton's injury, the Braves are expected to piece together a bullpen game in Game 4, while the Astros will hand the ball to veteran Zack Greinke.
Greinke came into the postseason after a stint on the injured list late in September that saw him return to the pitching staff to end the 2021 regular season pitching in relief. He has pitched twice this postseason; in relief against the White Sox in Game 4 of the ALDS, where he pitched a scoreless inning and allowed two hits, and in a start against the Red Sox in Game 4 of the ALCS, where he gave up two runs on one hit and three walks in 1 1/3 innings.
