The World Series is finally here.
MLB's first full season since 2019 is down to just two teams left in pursuit of the title: the Braves and the Astros. The Braves have not won the World Series since 1995, while the Astros last won in 2017.
Each team will turn to starters that have been reliable arms for the teams so far in the postseason.
Charlie Morton gets the nod for the Braves, as he comes in with a 3.77 ERA across 14.1 innings of work. Morton has allowed 10 hits — two homers — and eight walks, and added 19 strikeouts to his postseason line. Morton's most recent start, which came against the Dodgers in Game 3, saw him pitch around some issues with walks as he issued six free passes in five innings, but he limited Los Angeles to two runs on three hits and struck out five.
The Astros will hand the ball to Framber Valdez, who was stellar for the Astros in Game 5 of the ALCS as he allowed just one run on three hits and one walk in eight innings with five strikeouts. Overall this postseason, he has an ERA of 4.20 with 13 strikeouts, five walks and 16 hits allowed in 15 innings.
