The Royals and Giants start the 2014 World Series on Tuesday.  Some Royals’ players were not even born when Kansas City last reached the World Series, while several Giants’ players have tasted the sweet victory of World Series twice in the past few years. Now, the Giants are in the hunt for the hat trick. This experience should not be undervalued.

Both teams have been stories of the autumn. The Royals have won all of their playoff games, and they have been especially good in tight situations: six games of their last eight have been decided by two runs or less. The Royals look like a team of destiny.

At the same time, the Giants have dropped only a few games on the way to World Series. Their road has been arguably more difficult. Many experts predicted the Nationals, Cardinals or even the Pirates to make the World Series ahead of San Francisco. The Giants, however, emerged as champions of the National League.

The Royals are -115 favorites on the series price at the South Point sports book in Vegas.  Game 1 odds rate Game 1 close to a pick 'em, although a  few books have the Giants as slight favorites.  William Hill, for example, is dealing San Francisco, behind Madison Bumgarner, at -108, with Kansas City and James Shields listed at even-money.   Check updated Game 1 betting lines on The Linemakers' live odds page .

AccuScore predicted every World Series game, and the series is not easy to decipher. Although most of the games set up as coin flips, the Giants have a slight edge. Postseason pitching is a vital factor, and one of the reasons the Giants have their edge is their red-hot starters Madison Bumgarner and Tim Hudson. When one of this duo is starting, the Giants are generally 55-45 favorites.

Prediction: Based on our 10,000 simulations performed on each game, the most probable outcome is the Giants winning the series in five games. If they cannot clinch it in five, the next potential scenario is Giants in seven. There is higher probability for Giants to win in four than the Royals to win in any scenario, but the Royals are favored to win the second game of the series.
