Uncertainty surrounds Vin Scully's future with Dodgers image

As legendary Dodgers play-by-play announcer Vin Scully mulls his future with the franchise, all of Los Angeles is holding its breath.

Scully, 87, annually finds himself in headlines this time of year as baseball fans await confirmation that the beloved voice of the Dodgers will preside over yet another season. But there's considerable uncertainty this year over whether he will be back for season No. 67.

A recent cold stirred commotion in Los Angeles and caused Scully to request that his television broadcast not be simulcast on radio, which generally happens during the first three innings of a game. And, according to the Los Angeles Times, Scully still has not made up his mind about 2016 because "he does not want to commit too soon."

Scully is a prideful, detail-oriented broadcaster, especially when it comes to serving his radio audience. He has been adamant in the past that he does not want to extend his career if he is no longer effective. But by most accounts, he's still among the best in the game, even when he's feeling a little under the weather.

Scully told the Times his health, aside from the cold, is "fine."

The Baseball Hall of Famer began calling Dodgers games in 1950. He has narrated some of the most historic moments in baseball history — from Sandy Koufax's perfect game in 1965 to Kirk Gibson's home run during the 1988 World Series — and Los Angeles residents hope they'll be able to add at least one more before Scully retires.
