Baseball card lovers now have a new way to enjoy the hobby.
Sporting News has launched "Opening Day," a new card unboxing show that features SN baseball staffers opening vintage boxes, along with new boxes, and giving the good cards away to viewers.

The first episode, hosted by senior baseball editor Jason Foster and senior writer Ryan Fagan, can be found on the Sporting News YouTube channel (or viewed below) and has Foster and Fagan opening a box of 1987 Donruss, notable for rookie cards of Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds and Bo Jackson, as well as a slew of Hall of Famers.
Foster and Fagan have collected baseball cards since the '80s, and the fun of opening new packs never gets old.
"It's a really relatable thing that spans generations. The mystery of not know what you're going to get, plus the thrill of getting something good, is all part of the fun," Foster said. "With 'Opening Day,' we're giving viewers that same mystery and that same thrill, and the best part is that they can win anything good that we pull."

Though Foster and Fagan don't get to add the cards to their own collections, that child-like thrill is still there.
"Not going to lie — 10-year-old Ryan would have a hard time believing they're letting me do my dream show, opening awesome boxes of baseball cards," Fagan said. "It's just the best."
Future episodes of "Opening Day" will include boxes of 1989 Upper Deck, 1985 Topps, 1981 Donruss, 2019 Topps Heritage and more. Watch the episodes to learn how to win the top cards from each box, and follow SN's baseball account, @sn_mlb, to know when new episodes drop.
