Vin Scully on final year: 'I'm looking forward to it as much as my second year' image

Despite undergoing a recent unspecified medical procedure, legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully intends on calling games next season.

Scully announced earlier this year that next season would be his last, and judging by his first interview since the procedure, he's excited to call games one last time.

“Oh, I’m definitely looking forward to next year,” Scully said in an interview with Sportsnet LA. “Maybe because it's my last year, I’m looking forward to it as much as my second year.

“I got through my first year, and I was so thrilled there was another one coming up. Well that’s how I feel about 16, I’m chafing (sic) at the bit."

"Chafing" aside, it sounds as though Scully is in good spirits and good health after the Dodgers announced Oct. 8 that the 87-year-old would miss calling the Dodgers’ postseason because of the medical procedure.

Scully's full interview with Alanna Rizzo can be seen at 7 p.m. PT (10 p.m. ET) Thursday on SportsNet LA.
