Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully won't be extending his celebrated career to see through the Los Angeles Dodgers' postseason run.

Even if the Dodgers make the playoffs, Scully, who has been the Dodgers announcer since 1950, will finish his career Oct. 2 — fittingly in a series against the Giants, whose rivalry with the Dodgers has extended the entirety of Scully's career.

"Otherwise, I’d be saying good-bye like in grand opera, where you say good-bye 12 different times,” Scully told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday . “I’m going to say good-bye at Dodger Stadium the last game with Colorado (Sept. 25). I will say good-bye in San Francisco. And then that will be it."

The Sept. 24 game against the Rockies is scheduled to be “Vin Scully Appreciation Day” at Dodger Stadium with a pregame ceremony honoring Scully, 88.

The Dodgers, who currently hold a four-game lead over the Giants in the NL West, hope to send Scully off with a fourth consecutive division title.
