The Boston Red Sox, after a day off, are set to take on the Cleveland Guardians for the first of three games at Progressive Field on Tuesday.
While the Red Sox were expected to get both Rafael Devers and Tyler O'Neill back for the matchup, only the latter is making his return.
With Tanner Houck on the mound, here's what Boston's lineup is set to be for Game 1:
- Ceddanne Rafaela SS
- Jarren Duran CF
- Tyler O'Neill DH
- Wilyer Abreu LF
- Rob Refsnyder RF
- Enmanuel Valdez 2B
- Connor Wong C
- Bobby Dalbec 1B
- Pablo Reyes 3B
To make room for O'Neill on the roster, the Red Sox have placed catcher Tyler Heineman on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 22).
Houck is coming off a brilliant performance against Cleveland last week, pitching a complete game shutout. Five different Guardians have recorded hits off of him in his career - Estevan Florial (1-for-8), Andres Gimenez (1-for-7), Steven Kwan (2-for-6 with an RBI), Josh Naylor (2-for-6 with a solo home run) and Jose Ramirez (2-for-10 with a solo home run).
Cleveland is sending Ben Lively to the mound for this matchup. His lone start this season came against Boston, giving up two runs and three hits in five innings of work. He's given up hits to just three active Red Sox - Jarren Duran (2-for-5), Pablo Reyes (1-for-2) and Connor Wong (1-for-2 with a solo home run).
