The find? Seven T206 Ty Cobb cards from 1909-11. The location? A crumpled paper bag.

According to The Associated Press, a family who requested anonymity nearly discarded the bag thinking it was trash while cleaning out an elderly relative's home.

Joe Orlando, president of Professional Sports Authenticator, told The AP there were about 15 of the cards known to exist.

"This is one of the greatest discoveries in the history of our hobby, involving one of the greatest rarities in baseball cards from arguably the most popular baseball card set ever produced," Orlando said in a statement.

The American Tobacco Company cards depict Cobb as the "king of the smoking tobacco world."
