Righthander Ricky Nolasco was on the verge of changing leagues. Media reports Wednesday indicate he will soon have a deal with the Minnesota Twins.

Nolasco, a starter who finished 2013 with the Los Angeles Dodgers was in serious talks Wednesday with the Twins, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

A Twins official told the newspaper the team has been working on a deal for Nolasco "for a while." To be completed: length and financial terms.

Nolasco was 8-3 with a 3.52 earned run average in 16 appearances with the Dodgers. He began the season with the Miami Marlins.

A California native, Nolasco spent more than seven seasons with the Marlins.

"We've done quite a bit of research with the Marlins people and others," a Twins official told the Pioneer Press. "Everything seems OK. He doesn't have any glaring negatives. The people that know him say he's all right."

Nolasco was a No. 4 starter for the Dodgers, behind Clayton Kershaw, Josh Greinke and rookie star Hyun-jin Ryu.
