The best story of MLB's opening week keeps getting better.

We're talking about Trevor Story, the Rockies rookie shortstop who on Sunday made MLB history when he bashed his seventh home run of the season during the eighth inning of a 6-3 Colorado win over the San Diego Padres. No player ever has had as many homers through the first six games of the season.

In fact, only Larry Walker (1997), Mike Schmidt (1976) and WIllie Mays (1964) had managed six home runs in the season's first six games.

Story already made history last week when he became the first player to go deep in each of his first three big-league games. His home run Sunday traveled 425 feet over the left-center field fence at Coors Field.

The 23-year-old is batting .333/.357/1.111 with 12 RBIs to start the season.
