Tim Tebow knows how to make an entrance.

The most high-profile instructional league player in recent memory stepped to the plate for his first-ever professional at-bat Wednesday afternoon and promptly hit a home run on the first pitch.

While an ESPN reporter on the scene in Port St. Lucie, Fla., noted that Tebow's Mets teammates went "wild" over the shot, the reaction from the larger-than-usual crowd in attendance was a bit more subdued.

What does it all mean? Well, a bit more than what he showed in his previous public showcases, but the back fields of spring-training complexes remain a long way from Citi Field.

Still, you've got to admire the Heisman Trophy winner's sense of the moment.
